super fix contact adhesiveSUPER FIX Universal
contact adhesive based on synthetic rubber, resins and solvents.
Laminated plastics
(Formica, ARPA, Duropal, Resopal, etc.), board, veneer-, rubber- and plastic
edging strips, rubber, foam-rubber, leather, linoleum, felt and cork to wood,
chipboard, concrete, stone and metals.
Dilutability: use for diluting only ‘Thinner’.
Temp.resistance: from - 15°C up to + 70°C.
Frost resistance: excellently resistant to frost. If the
adhesive has thickened somewhat because of frost, normal consistency can be
obtained again by placing it in a well heated room (above +20°C) for some
hours.
Resistance to moisture: good.
Chemical resistance: resistant to oil, bases and acids.
Basic Matarial : polychloroprene rubber.
Colour : yellow/brown.
Solids content : 25%.
Specific gravity : 860 kg/m3.
Viscosity : 3,5 Pa.s. at +20°C.
Flash point : 0°C.
Surface treatment: The surfaces to be bonded must be dry and free
from grease and dust. The surfaces to be bonded must fit closely together.
Tools: Strong brush or spreader for coating large
surfaces. Clean tools with 'Thinner'.
Application temp.: Do not use at temperatures below +10°C. At low
temperatures care must be taken that the temperature of the adhesive and of the
surfaces to be bonded is higher than the ambient temperature. Cold materials
have a strong tendency to attract the moisture present in the surrounding air.
Moisture on the adhesive film may have a disastrous effect on the bond and will
lead to unsatisfactory results.
Assembly time: 10 to 40 minutes.
Coverage: Dependent on the surface texture of the
materials to be bonded: 2-21/2 m2/litre (if applied to both surfaces).
Directions for use: Apply an even film of adhesive to both
materials. Porous materials must be coated twice, the second time after the
first layer is dry.
When the coat of
adhesive is just tacky and does not longer transfer to your finger upon
touching, the surfaces can be brought together. Take care to position the
materials accurately, because once the joint is made, they cannot be adjusted
by sliding. Next firmly tap the surfaces with a rubber hammer or roll with a
pressure roll.
A press may be used
as well; the pressure must then be sufficiently high and evenly applied to the
entire surface.
Bumps and gaps reduce
the contact surface. Air bubbles can be avoided by ‘unrolling’ the material
during fixing. Super Fix Contact Adhesive has a very good initial grab.
However, pressure applied only by hand is not sufficient. To obtain optimum
results, it is essential to tap or roll firmly over the entire surface in all
cases. The use of clamps which only apply a pressure to the edges is absolutely
insufficient. Do not leave the materials coated with Super Fix Contact Adhesive
Liquid to dry in a draughty damp or dusty space.
Remove adhesive
stains by immersing the material, if possible, in 'Thinner'. Otherwise, remove
fresh adhesive stains with white spirit. Treat older stains with paint remover.
Super Fix Contact
Adhesive has a shelf life of about 2 years, provided it is stored in unopened
containers in a cool place. It is recommended to store it in a frost-proof
place.
